Alkyl polyglycoside (APG)

Alkyl polyglycoside (APG) is a product obtained by the loss of one molecule of water from the hemiacetal hydroxyl group of sugar and the hydroxyl group of fatty alcohol under the catalysis of acid. Due to the different degrees of polymerization of sugars, the product is not a single compound; industrial products are mostly mixtures of alkyl monoglycosides, alkyl diglycosides and alkyl polyglycosides. Their color ranges from white to light brown depending on the degree of refinement, and they are mostly made into aqueous solutions for easy use. APG has the advantages of low surface tension, high biodegradability, non-toxicity and environmental friendliness. It is a new type of green and environmentally friendly non-ionic surfactant, widely used in detergents, cosmetics, food, medicine, textile printing and dyeing and other fields.
